Nemadji Research Corporation Announces Expanded Commitment to Community Service

Nemadji Research Corporation (NRC) a healthcare revenue recovery company in Bruno, MN announced today that they are increasing their commitment to local communities by increasing the number of employee hours dedicated to service work in surrounding areas.

“It is a fundamental value of NRC to be a responsible business that gives back to the communities where we work and live,” says John Blackshaw, CEO of NRC. “As part of our overall commitment, we provide paid time for our employees to go out into our communities to complete service projects.”

Over the past two years, NRC employees have cleaned highways, pulled weeds, rebuilt flower beds, raked, mowed, and painted recreational buildings and picnic tables in Bruno, Kettle River, Sandstone, Askov and Duquette. In July and October 2017, NRC joined with United Way of Carlton and Pine Counties to package toiletry items and serve meals to people in need at Operation Community Connect.

For 2018, NRC has committed a total of 392 hours to Service Days, up from 264 hours worked in 2017. NRC encourages community groups and service organizations to submit requests for consideration by our Service Day committee. Requests should be submitted via email to serviceday@nemadjiresearch.com.

About NRC

Nemadji Research Corporation has been operating in Pine County Minnesota for over thirty (30) years working with healthcare providers to identify opportunities for increasing revenue.  With nearly 50 employees located in Bruno, MN, NRC uses proprietary technology and unique data analytics and has generated over $300 million in revenue from third party payers for hospitals throughout the United States.

Case Studies

Provider:             Gwinnett Hospital System

Bed Size:             553 beds

Region:                Lawrenceville, GA

HIS:                        McKesson STAR

The Opportunity

Gwinnett Hospital System operates a well-run revenue cycle division.  Like most hospitals, they look for every possible dollar they can collect.  They utilize several business partners to help identify third party coverage for patients that may not have it.  They have a front-end patient advocacy vendor, an insurance eligibility and payment estimator tool they use on the front end, a third party aged insurance collection vendor, a Self-Pay early out vendor, three bad debt collection vendors, and a secondary bad debt collection vendor.  NRC proposed a solution that would complement these other companies’ efforts, not overlap them.

The Solution

Gwinnett Hospital System agreed to implement Nemadji’s back-end data analytics solution to help identify and recover lost revenue from Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other non-government third-party payers that they themselves and other vendor partners were not positioned to catch.  NRC finds eligibility and coverage as a result of inconsistencies in a patient’s historical service data, eligibility status changes, and information that can only be captured through proprietary technology and sophisticated matching methodologies.

The Results

Nemadji Research Corporation captured three years’ worth of historical patient data to begin the program.  In the first 10 months, $1.4 million of additional revenue was received by the hospital system as a result of NRC’s analysis.  After twelve(12) months, NRC generated  just over $2.1 million on accounts that had either been written off to bad debt or were deemed Charity Care by the hospital.    Approximately 77% of the accounts had retroactive eligibility.
